Welcome to the Gyalrong Texts Project

(Last updated May 22, 2006)

In the 1980s Professor Ngag dbang tshul khrims (of the South West Nationalities University in Chengdu, Sichuan, People's Republic of China) started to collect manuscripts containing texts written in the Rgyalrong language pertaining to Rgyalrong history, culture, religion etc. The collection is of great value because of the insider's view the texts give into Rgyalrong life and society. Over the past few years Professor Awang has edited the manuscripts and texts and prepared them for publication in order to make them available to a larger audience.

We are pleased to present to you here the Collection Awang, containing more than one hundred separate texts, in 66 manuscripts. In the Project Description you find a general introduction to the Collection Awang and details about the Rgyalrong Texts Project. The Index contains information about each text, such as contents, place of origin and number of pages. The Files give the manuscripts of the collection, formatted to reflect the original as faithfully as possible, as well a short introduction to each manuscript.
